My 12 year old sister went to a birthday party with 10 other girls, and for the loot bags everyone got a fish in a bowl and some fish food along with a set of rules. It’s basically a contest to see whoever can keep their fish alive the longest, and the winner gets a $25 gift card. It is the stupidest thing ever, I got so angry when I heard about it. So far 6 fish out of the 10 have died, and it’s only been 1 week. The girls aren’t even allowed to change the fish bowl and put it in something bigger, because that’s considered “cheating.” These poor fish do not deserve to be treated like this, they are living beings, not objects.
Find out who’s in charge and douse them with filthy fishbowl water
wow, this is just disgustingggggggggggggggggggggggg.
Hooooly fucking shit I would be stomping faces over this who the fuck thinks “You know what would be super fun for these little kids? Having all of them kill an animal, but as slow as they can manage, then reward one of them for it. IT’LL TEACH THEM ABOUT ~*RESPONSIBILITY*~ AKA ABUSING LIVING THINGS!!! Excellent yes i m best party planner” ugh ugh
Oh my god this is HORRIFYING. you are basically TELLING them the fish will die, even the ‘winner’ is last to go ‘belly up.’
that is awful, what a horrible person. They should be ashamed of themselves.
I’m so fucking pissed right now.
Making a competition out of death, not virtual or simulated death but with an actual living being, especially in such a developmental stage in one’s life… I can only imagine how that effect’s their psychology in the long run. It’s a shame animal emergency groups wouldn’t take an abused fish as seriously as another abused animal if you were to call somebody on them. I would. At least make it perfectly clear how fucked up this it.
Yeah it’s cruel, but shut up and get a grip you dickheads
"Yeah, it’s cruel, but you’re the dicks that need to stop and let these poor people continue to mistreat and kill their animals."
:( Those poor fish! If the people who started this challenge are so willing to let the fish die, then I doubt they actually treated the water they put into the tanks. So not only are the fish probably swimming around in poison, they’re put into tanks that are way too small for them and none of the girls were given directions as to how to PROPERLY care for fish (like treating water, giving them a proper sized tank, cleaning the pebbles etc.) :(
These two guys are roommates and I fucking love hearing about the shit they do to each other
Today I witnessed something amazing. Almost in stark contrast to yesterday, today I saw tangible impact of lady-representation in comics.
At the bookstore I work at, we have a dedicated Adventure Time section. This family came in and those kids were SO EXCITED to see their favourite characters in comics. I talked them through each OGN and series compilation, explaining what they all were and in what order they should be read, and this little girl’s entire life was changed. You could see it on her face.
The moment I mentioned Kate Leth (and that, yes, she is a girl.) this little girl’s face lit up like Christmas morning. I don’t know if it just never occurred to her that girls can work in comics but the excitement and wonder that left the store in her was a privilege to see. I ended up selling them the Fionna & Cake’s, all the OGN’s, and an AT doodle book. She left begging her dad to help her learn how to draw Marceline comics. (And he was happy to comply!)
Kate Leth has left an everlasting impression on this little girl just by existing and working in the industry. I honestly hope to someday be able to see such an impact on someone from my own work. Ladies in comics is important. The representation on the page, and behind them, is important. Having a reflection of yourself in the content you enjoy is important. I hope that little girl grows up to be a famous comic author someday.
It was a very good day.
Late bandwagon with a poster for you peeps.
I thought of this phrase in the bathroom and i had to do it.
a drunk driver killed someone i love. i thought maybe, if i kept it up, i might hear something back…This is so beyond heart breaking, yet so extremely powerful. Never forget to tell your family, friends, and others you love them. It may be the last time you do so!
This feeling hurts.
This is incredibly heartbreaking.
I’m a 27 year old guy and this tore me up inside, reading it.
the fact that Hayner’s voice actor, Justin Cowden, has a rabbit named Roxas is the cutest thing ive ever heard in my whole life
this photoset sums up Magic tournaments so perfectly
